"Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known". This quote from Carl Sagan has always inspired me as an individual and as a scientist. As I has delved deeper into science communication, I have realized how relevant it is for all of us, including as children, teachers and parents. The more we learn, the more we realize that there is so much which we do not know and that there is so much more to learn. Learning is a life long process. It can be unbelievably exciting if we can keep our minds open, are curious about what we see, and do not shy away from asking questions like 'Why' and 'How'. It is important to realize that education is not restricted to lessons learnt in school or college. Our real education actually happens out of class rooms. Experiences in society help to develop creativity and imagination, especially among children, which, in turn can motivate us to make our own contribution to the society. Parents and teachers must, therefore, encourage children to ask as many questions as they can, but at the same time, it is also essential that they keep adding to their own knowledge bank. At Pushpa Gujral Science City, we value science as an indispensable tool for understanding our world and enriching the lives of our people. Our mission is to stimulate curiosity and inspire science learning in everyone by creating fun, excitement and memorable experiences. Sprawled in 72 acre area, PGSC is one of the three major Science Cities of the country. It is open to public 7 days a week, 365 days an year. We have a host of facilities like, shows, simulators, galleries, parks and we keep adding more. We have an educationally focused Large Format Film Theatre with a capacity to create images of exceptional clarity and an immersive effect through one of the largest film frames (23m diameter) in motion picture industry. The theatre doubles up as the planetarium as well. We also take you through the evolutionary process in the universe through our 'Panorama of Life' and the unique, 5 acre, open air 'Dinosaur Park'. We try to simplify scientific concepts in our galleries linking science to your health, environment, sports, and a host of other activities. Albert Einstein had once said that, "Imagination is more important than knowledge, for knowledge is limited to all what we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world and all there ever will be to know and understand." At Pushpa Gujral Science City, we have realized the importance of sparking the imagination of people, especially children. We have, therefore, set up an Innovation Hub where you can test your imagination with our team of mentors. We also appreciate that science stands at the heart of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Our Climate Change Object Theatre, the Renewable Energy Park and a host of exhibits and live demonstrations help visitors appreciate and understand the potential of science in creating a better future for our planet. Further, to reach out to some of you who cannot visit us very often, we take science to your doorstep through our Mobile Science Exhibition and mobile planetarium. The journey of science learning is a never ending journey. Overcoming challenge after challenge, our hardworking team has been successful in achieving new milestones (including financial). We realize that once one milestone is achieved, there is always another one waiting to be crossed. With the support of our visitors, we at PGSC, are confident that we will continue to act as a bridge between citizen and science & technology. We invite you to join the 4.6 million people of all ages and backgrounds students, families with children, adults, senior citizens, whose lives have been touched by a visit to Pushpa Gujral Science City. We hope that when you leave, you will have a smile on your face and will look at the world differently. Me and my team look forward to seeing this smile on your faces.
