A district-level “Van Mahotsav” celebration was jointly organized by Pushpa Gujral Science City (PGSC) and the District Administration, Kapurthala at Wadala Kalan village nearby to PGSC on July 01, 2019. Sh. Davinder Pal Singh Kharbanda, Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala was the Chief Guest on the occasion. He enthused the villagers to plant more saplings to make the ecosystem balanced and healthy. Further, he urged them that mere planting a sapling was not enough rather it was more important to nurture it. He called upon each of the families in the village to look after and adopt at least two saplings so as to make their surroundings green, clean and pollution-free.
He further added that in view the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji under the “Tandrust Punjab Mission” of Govt. about 550 saplings were being planted throughout Punjab in each of the village. Sh. Kharbanda, DC, Dr. Grover, Director, PGSC, Sh. A.S Bhullar, Additional Deputy Commission and Mrs.Tarnjit Kaur, Sarpanch of the village were present and also each of them planted a sapling on the occasion.
