World Ozone Day (07/09/24)
World Ozone Day commemorates the signing of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer in 1987. PGSC celebrated the day to educate children about the importance of the ozone layer and the impacts of ozone depletion and to encourage them to take action to preserve it. On this Occasion, an expert talk by Dr. Lakhvir Kaur Dhaliwal, Professor, Climate Change and Meteorology, PAU, Ludhiana; a painting competition (Theme: on “Protect the Ozone Layer”) and debate (Theme: “Should countries be held accountable for their ozone-depleting emissions”) was organised. Approx. 120 students from 10 schools participated. The event encouraged children to adopt more sustainable practices that reduce the use of ozone-depleting substances and support environmental conservation.
