Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala organized a webinar on “International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction” on October 13, 2020 for students and general public. Shri Ravi Kumar Pandita Commandant, 7th BN NDRF was the key speaker at the event. The webinar was conducted on Zoom Platform, as well as, live streamed on YouTube channel. It was attended by 185 participants.
In his address Sh. Pandita said that India is geographically vulnerable to cyclones, floods and tsunamis etc. Therefore, the establishment of disaster management bodies at the national and state level is essential to deal with these natural calamities.
Dr Neelima Jerath, Director General Science City in her address said that natural calamities destroy everything, all efforts for the development of the country come to an end and countries lag behind in terms of development by many decades. To prevent these disasters it is very important that the society be made capable of dealing with them on its own. The general public in the society should be made capable of dealing with such adverse situations. They must be trained to deal with disasters.
