Pushpa Gujral Science City in collaboration with National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar celebrated 74th Republic Day by organizing a General Quiz for school students. Around 300 School students of class 8th to 10th participated in this event from all over Punjab.
Dr. Neelima Jerath, Director General Science City, Chief Guest at the occasion unfurled the National flag. During her address she said that Celebration of Republic Day helps youth and children of the country to be aware of the significance of unity and integrity of this great nation and provide an opportunity to everyone to be proud of their nation endowed with rich and varied heritage. Further, she said that young students are the driving force of the country as their scientific aptitude and skills drive the nation towards development.
Dr. Rajesh Grover, Director Science City present at the occasion said that all round progress made by the country in terms of technological, institutional and manpower with special emphasis on establishing strong infrastructure in the field of science and technology has started bearing fruits. Further, today’s young are tomorrow’s innovators, creators, builders and leaders and have the power to change the nation. He urged the young minds to take the charge and come forward to contribute in nation building.
Dr R S Bharj, Senior faculty, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIT Jalandhar and Dr. Arun Khosla, Professor NIT Jalandhar & founder of the startup ‘Kariyo’ were also present at this occasion and conducted an interactive session for the participants. They shared the efforts being made by NIT Jalandhar to provide required support in terms of training and opportunities to develop young entrepreneurs and technology leaders.
Mr. Shibananda Das, Chief Executive Officer, Technology incubation Centre was the quiz master at this occasion. Mr. Sharey Thaper from Swami Sant Dass Public School Phagwara bagged first prize of Rs10,000/- whereas second & Third prize of Rs 5000/- each was won by Mr. Hasrshit Vasudava from Little Angle School Kapurthala and Hetul Jyoti from Dayanand Model Sen. Sec. School Jalandhar
